The Ashford community was established in the mid-1960's. It consists of three community subdivisions: Ashford South, Ashford Forest, and Ashford Forest Lake. There are approximately 933 homes in this suburban community 

Ashford Community Association is a very strong neighborhood association that prides itself on maintaining our area as a desirable place to live. It maintains community common areas such as pools, tennis courts, and a playground. It also organizes several community events each year, and upholds deed restrictions. Deed restriction enforcement has kept our neighborhood beautiful and resulted in a continuing increase of our home values. 

In addition, the Ashford community boasts a champion swim team, and a very active Women's Club. 

The Ashford Community is located in the Houston Independent School district. Ashford Primary and Shadowbriar Elementary schools are located near or within walking distance of many residents' homes. West Briar Middle School is approximately3 miles west of the subdivision. Westside High School, which opened in the fall of 2001, is the newest addition to the growing number of educational facilities in the area. In addition to these public schools, there are several private, church and Montessori schools within 1-5 miles of the subdivision.
