Active Clubs*NEW* Plant-Based Recipes: Darlene Allen, Volunteer Coordinator & VLCE
Are you interested in plant-based eating? There are a multitude of reasons it may interest you: health, animal welfare, the environment, & more! There are also a multitude of recipes to satisfy any taste: simple, gourmet, comfort, and more! Join us at The Grange on the first Thursday of the month at 10am as we share our favorite recipes to help inspire and add more plants to your life. For more club details, contact Darlene at [email protected] for specific dates in case there is a change.
Darlene has been a Meadows resident for 13 years and a vegan for 10 years. She is the organizer of the Castle Rock Vegans Meetup and Facebook group. She enjoys connecting people and planning fun events...everything from lunches, potlucks, book clubs, sanctuary tours, and more! Other notable accomplishments include organizing the first Vegan Popup in Castle Rock, co-writing a monthly vegan food review, and graduating from Main Street Vegan Academy as a Vegan Lifestyle Coach and Educator (VLCE). She's also raising a vegan child and lives in a multi-vore household. She'd love to answer your questions related to living a vegan/plant-based lifestyle...such as what to feed your family, dining out, options for the holidays, and giving up cheese (hint: you don't have to!).
Bridge: Sharon Sansone, Volunteer Coordinator
Whether you're a beginner, an expert, or a strictly online player, come join this fun and informal Bridge group! You'll socialize with people of all ages and backgrounds, and spark some friendly neighborhood competition. The club will begin meeting in February on Mondays from 12:30pm – 3:30pm at The Grange. Sharon Sansone will be the point person for questions and to sign up, so contact her at 720-916-1193 or [email protected] if interested!
Good Deeds: Kristen Frecceri, Volunteer Coordinator
Want to make a difference in this world? Want to help those in need? Then this club is for you! Join us in helping people right here in our community. From helping neighbors rake leaves to giving your time volunteering at a local food bank. Experiencing the joy that comes with giving back and making a difference is what this club is all about. Questions? Email Kristen at [email protected]. If you are a resident in need of help with projects, please contact Kristen to coordinate! We are looking for residents who are in need of a helping hand.
Hiking: RJ Daskevich, Volunteer Coordinator
The purpose is to provide an opportunity for those interested in hiking to meet others on a regular basis and experience a variety of hikes. We hike everything from local trails to 14ers. We hike locally on Thursdays in the early evenings, and Saturdays with longer and increasingly more aggressive hikes as the season progresses. For 13ers and 14ers, we will put out appropriate cautions so each person to gauge if it is the right hike for them. We try to carpool whenever possible, generally meeting at Bison Park. We usually have a bite to eat afterwards and can enjoy other events outside of hiking, such as a happy hour. It is as much as a social group as it is a hiking club. If you have questions or are interested in joining, please contact RJ at 719-447-7307 or [email protected].
Cycling: 6202 Cycling
6202 Cycling was formed in December 2005 by a group of Castle Rock-based cyclists who wanted to share their love of bicycling and their community. We welcome bicyclists of all styles – casual riders, racers, mountain and road cyclists, men, women, and families. Club members participate in several organized local and regional rides including Elephant Rock, Triple Bypass, and the Courage Classic. 6202 Cycling is a member of the League of American Cyclists, a non-profit membership organization which promotes cycling for fun, fitness, and transportation through advocacy and education. More information can be found on the club website at www.6202cycling.org.
